Steam lists Palworld's storage requirement as 40 GB of available space with an SSD required, on both the minimum and recommended spec sheets. The on-disk footprint has been somewhat smaller than the full 40 GB during early access (players commonly reported roughly 25–30 GB installed), but Pocketpair asks you to reserve 40 GB because the game grows over time. Palworld received frequent, sizeable early-access updates across its 2024–2026 run – individual patches typically ran a few gigabytes, and large content updates (new islands and expansions such as Sakurajima and Feybreak, plus the 1.0 launch build) add more data. The SSD requirement is meaningful rather than optional here: the large streamed open world and base simulation benefit from fast storage, and Pocketpair explicitly flags SSD in the minimum requirements. To keep the install in check, install to an SSD with headroom above 40 GB, and expect the folder to swell after major updates. Save files and screenshots are small; the bulk is world/asset data and patched content.
